MLGE Genres: Awakening Classic

These are songs that inspire brotherhood and deep devotion, and can be enjoyed repeatedly. These are helpful awakening songs that inspire and bless. We also use the term “classic” to denote songs that address a particular topic, such as unworthiness, in a deep or thorough way.

"Right Here, Right Now" by Jesus Jones emphasizes being fully present and appreciating the moment. This theme aligns with the "A Course in Miracles" lesson "Let all things be exactly as they are," encouraging acceptance and peace by embracing reality without trying to change it. Both the song and the lesson remind us that true happiness comes from living in the present moment.
In Don Henley's poignant ballad "The Heart of the Matter," the essence of forgiveness is elevated as a healing balm for the soul's deepest wounds. It's a gentle reminder that amidst life's cacophony, the hushed voice of forgiveness is a steadfast guide towards inner peace and reconciliation.
"I grew up listening to this song repeatedly throughout the years in my dad's car 🥰 I loved the song, although I didn't really understand English at the time. As I got older and grasped the lyrics, I was happily surprised by the profound meaning and loving messages that surrounded me. Jesus has definitely been serenading me throughout my life. That's why I love music so much – it's poetry set to music, speaking directly to the heart." —Ana Paola (mlge contributor)
This amazing Classic is a cover of a Beatles song that was originally written by John Lennon. It expresses a sense of detachment and transcendence from the material world, and a connection with the spiritual realm. The poetic imagery and metaphors describe the flow of words, thoughts, and emotions across the universe. “Jai guru deva om”, a Sanskrit phrase, means "glory to the shining remover of darkness." This is a beautiful mantra of praise and gratitude to God.
The song is about living a more-fulfilling life by letting go of ego and judgment, and reaching the “higher ground” in our mind, where we can see the holiness that we all share. The song also relates to the A Course in Miracles workbook Lesson 268, which teaches us to let all things be exactly as they are.
